This course isn’t just about theory; it provides you with a new perspective on BMLs’ experiences and also gives you our simple framework for success, helping you apply what you learn immediately. It is designed for teachers working in any school system, whether in an English-speaking school, bilingual program or other language medium school. This course is suitable for educators working in any grade/year-level or subject, from kindergarten/early years right into secondary school.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs):

We would like to enroll a group of teachers from our school into the Course. How do we go about it?

You can enroll as many teachers as you like, however if you want to pay for them on one invoice, you will need to complete this Group Registration Form and submit it to: hello@educatorsofbmls.com at least 2 weeks in advance of your course start date.

You will also need to let us know the preferred start date for your group (Mondays-Fridays only) and we will schedule your participants to receive their email invitation and join our online group only on your specified date

Your payment (or proof of payment) must be received before your group can access the Course. You can pay by bank transfer or by debit/credit card. Our invoice includes a payment link as well as our bank details.

Once you have paid, all you need to do is wait for your start date and all of the individuals you included on your registration form will be sent an email invite to join the online course group. All they need to do is click that link to create their profile, immediately accessing the Course and receiving their Welcome email.

If there are any issues receiving your invites, you can email our Course Help Desk at: help@educatorsofbmls.com and they will help you with your concern as soon as possible.

Can Teaching Assistants or Paraprofessionals join this Course?

Yes, they can!

What is a 'Deep Dive Challenge?'

Our Deep Dive Challenge is like a personal inquiry or mini action research project that participants can undertake after the core 4-week course.

Think of our 4-week Educator’s Course like a ‘core’ course. It includes all the research and insights you need to know to support your BMLs effectively. A Deep Dive Challenge is like  ‘Part 2’ to our Educator’s Course because you will be applying the core knowledge you’ve learned from it.

The main difference is that you will actually be implementing selected approaches and strategies and reporting your findings over a period of weeks (you plan and set your own timeline across 15 hours).

IS THIS A GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL PROJECT?

This is only for individual participants – each person must complete their own Deep Dive Challenge.

IS IT FOR EVERYONE?

Not everyone needs to do a Deep Dive Challenge – it is ideal for those people who are keen to apply their learning more deeply in the context of their specific students and classroom/school. They should be interested in showcasing their learning with others in our BML Educator Community as part of their inquiry process. This enables them to share their insights but also take feedback from others in the Community. Participants must be self-motivated.

Previously, we offered our Educator’s Course as an 8-week course with both in-school and project-work included in the core course components. Our now updated, 4-week Educator’s Course is the same course, just condensed, with all the same learning modules. However, the 4-week course does not include an in-class component or project work. It must be completed as a Deep Dive Challenge.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

By offering the Deep Dive Challenge as an option following our ‘core’ 4-week course; people can take a longer break between the two, if they choose. They also have more control over what they want to learn or focus on, individually. This gives them an opportunity to focus more on the impact of specific approaches and strategies, directly with their students.

The Deep Dive Challenge is self-directed with feedback from your Course Guide. You will complete a ‘Learning Contract’ with 6 questions that relate to the topic you want to explore, outlining what exactly you will implement. You will provide specific details related to time, methods, etc. You will also include your timeline.

You will regularly provide an update (e.g. a post, some work samples, etc.) inside our BML Educator Community and others will be able to read and/or respond to your posts. Your Course Guide will also comment and give you more ideas or feedback.

Once you have completed your Challenge, you will write a detailed final summary to share your findings and what you’ve learned. You will receive your certificate for 15 additional hours of professional development after you’ve completed your project successfully.

With 30-hours of professional development completed, you are eligible to apply for up to 2 units/credits of equivalent, graduate-level coursework from University of the Pacific (California).  Additional fees apply. Please email us for more information at: hello@educatorsofbmls.com
