They advise parents and caregivers about effective approaches and strategies. They help make the bilingual or multilingual journey successful.

Private coaches provide programs to parents and caregivers using our systematic method of family ‘Language Planning’. They provide short- and long-term considerations.

They aim to empower parents/caregivers with the knowledge and strategies to advocate for the maintenance of their languages and cultures.

Bilingual & Multilingual Parent Coaches offer families clear solutions for challenges they may experience on their bilingual or multilingual journeys.

They help families connect to their own languages and cultures but they can also help parents and caregivers learn how their child can acquire new languages at different ages/stages.

Learning Modules: Entrepreneurship Pathway
There are a total of 50 hours of coursework in this Program – approximately 3 hours per week. It is an online program. You largely work independently and at your own pace between modules. You must attend 6 live coaching calls throughout the Program (on Sundays, 11am-1pm London, UK time).
Module 1: The BML Knowledge Base (2 weeks)
In this module, you will learn about the research related to bilingualism and multilingualism. You will distinguish between ‘myths and facts’ and understand why parents, caregivers and professionals often make decisions based on myths instead of facts.
Module 2: Culture & Family Contexts (2 weeks)
In this module, you will examine the importance of ‘culture’ as well as family needs. You will also learn about practical issues related to mixed-culture families. You will learn about minority and dominant cultures and how these factors influence language and cultural maintenance. Discover the role that schools play in supporting multilingualism or contributing to language loss.
Module 3: The Case Study & Introduction to our 6-Step BML Parent Coaching Process (2 weeks)
You will learn to analyze case studies in order to understand unique family needs and situations. You will also develop a deep awareness of the factors that both support and negatively impact the maintenance of family languages and cultures. Through the case studies, you will understand how to best serve parents. You will also be introduced to the concept of family language planning and our 6-Step BML Parent Coaching Process, which forms a significant part of our work as Coaches and Entrepreneurs.
Module 4: Coaching Skills (2 weeks)
In this module, you will learn our essential coaching skillset. You will discover how to listen actively and how to use empathy and non-judgemental communication. You will understand how to build trust and help your clients set goals, change behaviours and build accountability. You will also learn how to work with difficult clients and how to navigate boundaries and conflict resolution.
Module 5: Language & Literacy (2 weeks)
In this module, you will take a deep-dive into language development, additional language acquisition, and literacy development. Find out which languages are the most difficult to learn and why. Get to know more about how language and literacy are connected and the importance of each. You will understand the best models of education for building bilingual and multilingualism in children.
Module 6: Business Creation (3 weeks)
In this module, you will follow our step-by-step, business creation process. This includes learning about your chosen niche, your ideal client as well as their desires and pain points. This module is all about online research, potential client interviews and narrowing your idea down to one offering. You will also learn several ways to grow your business from scratch and develop a practical plan to launch.
Module 7: Practicum (3 weeks)
In the final weeks of the program, you will carry out three coaching sessions. This is where you will bring all of your skills together and refine your expertise. First, you will work with a partner in a ‘practice session,’ during which they will provide you with strategic feedback. You will also assume the role of ‘client’ for your partner. Then, you will arrange two additional coaching sessions, one of which will be recorded and submitted for your final assessment.
Please note: participants will need to arrange their own practicum clients (2). Instructions will be provided at the start of the program.
Upon successful completion, coaches will receive a certificate and official ‘badge’ to use on their coaching/presentation materials. Coaches will also receive an invitation to join our BML Parent Coaches’ Network (for School-Based Coaches) where they will get lifetime access to ongoing communication, networking and support.

There are a total of 24 hours of coursework in the Program – approximately 3 hours per week. It is an online program. You largely work independently and at your own pace between modules. You must attend 4 live coaching calls throughout the Program (on Sundays, 11am-1pm London, UK time).
Module 1: The BML Knowledge Base (2 weeks)
In this module, you will learn about the research related to bilingualism and multilingualism, understanding how it specifically relates to parents, children and families. You will distinguish between ‘myths and facts’ and understand why parents, caregivers and professionals often make decisions based on myths instead of facts.

Through these case studies, you will understand how to best serve parents within your school community while developing your own parent education program. You will also be introduced to the concept of family language planning (although this is covered more extensively in the Entrepreneurship pathway).
Module 4: The Presentation (2 weeks)
In this module, you will plan and develop your own parent education program. This will be highly impactful since the goal will be to educate parents about avoiding the ‘Language Shift’ and helping them understand how to preserve their home languages and cultures.
You will help families understand how they can preserve their languages and cultures while still enrolling their child in a ‘dominant language’ school. You will deliver your presentation to a group of parents at your school or education center (Please note, we are flexible for submission based on your school calendar). You can use our resources and templates to create the foundations of your program, but you will use the information you collected from your case studies to inform your presentation content. Your content will match the specific needs of your cultural and linguistic context.
You will record your presentation and then submit it as your final evaluation.

WHY ARE BML PARENT COACHES NEEDED?
These days, our world is global but many people are losing their ability to speak their home or heritage languages. This is due to several factors but the truth is, multilingualism is needed more than ever before. That’s why it’s so important that parents and caregivers get the right information and support to raise their children bilingually or multilingually.
This is where our BML Parent Coaches come in! They help educate, guide and support parents/caregivers who want to raise multilingual kids. They develop and deliver critical parent education programs that make parents aware of how important their home languages and cultures are. The work they do PREVENTS language loss and cultural disconnect. They are leaders and advocates.

WHO IS LEADING THIS PROGRAM?
Our Co-Founders, Alison Schofield and Francesca McGeary, will be guiding you through this Coaching Program. They’re entrepreneurs who have over 18 years experience running their own successful businesses. Their backgrounds span education, disability services, counseling, linguistics and behavioural therapy. They have also had extensive training in marketing, copywriting, authoring, and online business creation. As well as being social entrepreneurs, they’ve also developed unique businesses for the education industry. One of their biggest achievements to-date is helping a private equity company turn-around their failing business in just 3 months! Our Co-founders are qualified mentors with a passion for people. You can expect to learn all their entrepreneurial secrets and strategies, in addition to gaining more insights from others in your cohort.

All of our BML Parent Coaches continue to receive ongoing support at no additional cost in our online Coaching Community. This is a place for them to continue to learn, ask questions and get access to regular, live calls. Can you guarantee my success?
Unfortunately, we cannot make any guarantees about your success as a Bilingual and Multilingual Parent Coach. There are many factors that contribute to your success. Some are related to your personality, drive, decision-making skills and even your ability to direct your own day-to-day schedule. Once you apply, we will let you know if we feel you are a good candidate. We’ll be honest if we feel you are not suited to the Program in order to avoid wasting your time and money.

Do you have a money-back guarantee if I don't like the Program?

Do I need to be bilingual or multilingual myself to be a BML Parent Coach?
While it is of course desirable, it is not necessary. You can still be a strong support and advocate for bilingual and multilingual children and families. Part of your role is to connect parents to community resources and supports, and these should be based on the languages and cultures of your families. Our rationale is that it is much better to have a non-bilingual person who is knowledgable, skilled and well-resourced, than having no support available to a family.
Of course, one major advantage you have if you are bilingual or multilingual yourself is that you can provide your Coaching Services to your parents/caregivers in your own languages. This is ideal.
Do I need to be a Parent or Caregiver Myself to be a BML Parent Coach?
Again, it’s not necessary because you are still able to educate, guide and support parents with successful strategies and approaches. It can be an advantage if you’re a parent or caregiver yourself because this can give you additional insights. However, if you are not a parent, we will still be able to help you connect to your clients through your own strengths and unique experiences.
I've never been a Parent Coach or worked with parents before. Will I be successful?
There are specific characteristics of people who are well-suited to becoming BML Parent Coaches. They have a mix of previously-demonstrated leadership abilities combined with ‘people skills.’ We will be able to advise you if you have the right potential for thriving in this business. Also, don’t forget that you will become trained in our methods and systems and you will also get opportunities to try-out or practice with real clients before you go out on your own! You will be guided every step of the way. Ideally, you should have worked with people in some capacity, but if you’re questioning your suitability, do get in touch with us and we’ll answer your questions more specifically.
Running a successful Coaching business includes being able to generate leads and clients consistently. These are some of the most important skills that you will be learning throughout the Program. We will help you identify where your best customers are and show you how to create systems that help you run a successful and sustainable business.
